Great Lakes Equestrian Festival

I am currently in northern Michigan with my family and hadn't planned on much horse-time while here, but when I had an afternoon free with my baby sister who is a religious Star Stable player and discovered there was a Grand Prix at Flintfields Park about 30 minutes from my mom's house....

The kid and I went.

After Michigan, the most represented state was Texas. Which I thought quite interesting.

The grounds were absolutely gorgeous, stalls inside huge vaulted tents and a Grand Prix field set down in a grass bowl.

I'm bummed I didn't take better photos -- but I loved walking around, exploring the vendors, purchasing a VERY soft brush for Tango, and talking to people about their experience showing here.

Everyone I talked to was in Traverse City for the first time, and had nothing to say but positive feedback. The lakes are nearby and offer splendid swimming, the food scene in the area has really increased in quality over the last few years...

Anyhow. It's really cool to see eight weeks of A-rated shows in my hometown. Especially in such a GORGEOUS setting.

  1. Dang, I can't imagine 8 weeks of rated shows in my hometown. Let alone even meeting someone who didn't ask "Where's the horn?" when they saw my english saddle.
