It sounds just like a more eggagerated version called 'milling' wherein you shorten one rein and lengthen the other to bring the nose around and wait for 1) the ears to level out 2) the horse to stop leaning into the rein and 3) if you release the rein you want the horse to gradually uncurl rather than snap back forward.Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01092098198949213494noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7363085054614836371.post-73050712886098822752014-12-01T11:32:48.165-08:002014-12-01T11:32:48.165-08:00we first assessed which side of my mare's pelv...we first assessed which side of my mare's pelvis was tipped higher (she's not very balanced laterally), then 'sat' on that side with a very exaggerated inside bend (and almost leg yielding out) with single rein contact on a smallish circle at walk + trot. after a little while she would let go through the base of her neck and stretch down low. the idea was to achieve better balance from side to side so that we can improve engagement.

so perhaps the objective of the exercise is a little different, even if the mechanics are similar?emmahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05686949099663199382noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7363085054614836371.post-21539365711168113032014-11-28T07:32:59.527-08:002014-11-28T07:32:59.527-08:00You're welcome!
